Making an Insurance Claim for Your Solar Power or Hot Water System: What You Need to Know

Protecting Your Investment After a Storm

Recent storms can take a toll on homes across Queensland, and your solar power or hot water system may have been affected.

If you need to make an insurance claim, it’s important to ensure that your high-quality Solahart system is replaced with an equivalent system – not a lower-quality alternative.

At Solahart Sunshine Coast, we’re here to support you through the claims process, ensuring you receive the best outcome for your system.

Here’s what you need to know to protect your investment and your warranty.

Check Your Insurance Policy First

Before lodging a claim, it’s essential to review your insurance policy to understand exactly what you are covered for.

Policies can vary, and some may have specific exclusions or conditions regarding solar power or hot water system replacements. If you’re unsure about your coverage, contact your insurer directly to clarify what is included in your policy.

Having this information in advance can help you make informed decisions and ensure that you receive a suitable replacement.

Your Rights When Making an Insurance Claim

When filing an insurance claim for your solar power or hot water system, you have the right to:

  • Like-for-like replacement – Your insurer is required to replace your damaged system with an equivalent high-quality system.
  • Specify Solahart – Inform your insurer and insurance builder that you want to replace your existing Solahart system with another genuine Solahart system.
  • Request brand details in writing – When reviewing your scope of works, ensure the brand and model of the replacement system are clearly stated. This guarantees you’re getting the same level of performance and reliability as your previous system.

Why This Matters for Your Warranty

Your Solahart warranty may be voided if your system is replaced with a non-Solahart product.

To maintain full warranty coverage, the removal and installation of your system must be completed by our qualified Solahart team.

DO NOT sign any paperwork until you’re certain that your replacement system is another quality Solahart system. Once you sign, changes may not be possible, and we may not be able to assist in correcting the installation.
